My first week in Australia

Our first day, September 8, 2016

Today, after we got out of the airport, we caught a taxi to our house.  After we unpacked, we went down to the swimming lagoon.  The swimming lagoon is basically a big saltwater pool that is very warm.  When we got out, we ate some food.  Then we headed down to the skate park.  At the skate park, there were some awesome bowls and some stairs to jump, some grinding rails, and some slanted walls to ride on.

Today, we went on the Kuranda Scenic Railway, which is a train that goes through the jungle.  Once we got out to Kuranda, we went on a jungle walk to the village of Kuranda.  There we went to a butterfly exhibit.  There were some huge butterflies.  Then we went to the bird exhibit.  Whenever you had bird food, they would perch on your hand and eat it.  Then we went to the Koala exhibit.  We looked at crocodiles, wombats, kangaroos, and snakes and last of all we got to cuddle a koala.  Then we went on a sky rail, which is a lift that goes over the rainforest, and then we caught a bus back to Cairns.

Today I went to the skate park.   I learned how to catch air out of a bowl and I also learned how to jump into a bowl.  Of all the skate parks in Australia so far this was the second best. I also saw a black and white bird called the tail wager bird more commonly known to my family as the butt shaker bird.  It will hop around its nest shaking its feathery buttocks.

Today we went to colonial village where the people collected and preserved old buildings, cars, clothes, and furniture as well as toys, weapons and old medical supplies.  We got to look at very fancy cars. There was a ninety-year-old Harley Davidson motorcycle on display.  I made a cool WANTED poster with an old printing press, it was 150-years-old so it was very easy to chop off your fingers or hands for that matter.
